The challenge
A high-end currency exchange company based in Canary Wharf, London, running a platform that allows users cheap bank-to-bank payments in foreign currencies.
The client maintained five separate legacy CMS websites that needed consolidating. Information sat across five databases with over 2,500 pages between them, each site carrying a different theme, with content in multiple languages. Customer login and navigation needed streamlining as part of the move.
Our approach
All five databases and themes were integrated into a single multisite platform, centralising customer information and simplifying the user experience.
The migration was planned around what had to survive it: content in every language, every existing URL, and the editorial structure the client’s team already understood.
Technical implementation
- Five websites combined into a single multisite platform.
- Over 2,500 pages and posts migrated with content intact.
- Five databases consolidated into one source of truth.
- Five themes reduced to a single maintainable theme.
- Multiple languages supported throughout.
- Redirects mapped so legacy URLs retained their search position.
The bulk of the risk in a migration of this size is not moving the data — it is proving nothing was lost. Every page was reconciled against the source before go-live.
The outcome
What we learned
Consolidating five themes into one was more valuable to the client than the database work. Their team now makes a change once instead of five times.
